About a year ago i put a rebuilt single speed wiper motor in my 65. i have not used the wipers much. Yesterday i needed to use them quite a lot and they worked fine. All of a sudden they stopped at the far left position. I turned the wiper switch off and pulled over after i stopped i gave the left wiper a nudge after i switched the wipers on and they started working again. They stopped one more time and i did the same thing and they started again. Any ideas?
if it stops in the same place every time it does it, I would guess it was a linkage issue. look to see if there is something binding the rods. could be as simple as a twig or an acorn stash.
Years ago I had a '61 F100 that the linkage was worn such that if the drivers side went all the way down, things would get bound up. My solution was to tie a string around the arm and slip it in through the vent window, so I could keep it pulled up a little. It worked.
I'll second the linkage as a good place to check. There are two arms under the dash that connect from the wiper motor output arm to each of the two pivot shafts. These arms each have a grommet on either end of them like the picture below. If the grommets are starting to deteriorate it can cause some problems. Also, check the pivot shafts for any wiggle by grabbing the top where the wiper connects and see if you get any movement. Make sure to take any pressure off the wiper blade when checking the pivots.
Checked the up and down motion of the pivot at the wiper, Left wiper nut loose. I think that is the problem,
The cork gaskets for the wiper pivots?
Are they to be replaced under the dash and then the pivot installed thru the hole toward the outside of the truck?
Maybe I need to replace these gaskets. What are the thoughts here?
Many trucks seem to have never gotten the gaskets. But, yes, they go on below the dash and then the wiper pivot shaft sticks up through the gasket as it is installed. You can make your own reproductions in materials other than leather if you prefer, too.

Totally optional item here, but just so you know about it - there are tools made to remove and tighten the pivot shaft to cowl top nut. Here's an example of a Scott Drake tool sitting on one of the nuts.. It's a good way to work on the nuts without damaging them. I've seen the nuts tight enough in some cases that the tool really came in handy.
Looking at the drawing in the MPC it doesn't seem to show these nuts, just the spacers. You can see the two slots in the nut that is used to tighten and loosen it. Two screwdrivers - one on either side - can be used, too, but if you slip it can scratch the chrome and damage the slots. Taping the ends of the screwdrivers can help some.
