My wiper arm will not be go down flush to the bottom of the window. They stay up to the left position and goes down to the engine block and back up...how can i change this on my truck....it looks quite funny with the arms up and to the left...like they got stuck....
yes...and they go down into the cowl and back up...scratching the paint already there....it sucks....anybody have any ideas on what i could do for this?????
WOW!! I had the exact same problem with my wiper system install. They would either not "park" at the bottom of the windshield (and scratch the cowl) or stop at 12 o'clock, 9 o'clock, etc. I tried taking off the wiper blades and activating the switch. I marked on the switch where "park" would be while noting the full arc of the sweep it makes. This didn't work either! Go figure.
I finally called a shop and asked how to remedy. They said there is a nut you have to adjust. It's on the wiper motor. Also, make sure the wiper motor is grounded real well. My installer gets in this morning 'round 8:00 am, I'll call and ask and send more info if it differs from what I just told you.
BTW, I ended up going with a separate single button "plunger" switch for the wiper fluid and a separate **** for activating the wipers (off-low-high).... and it STILL doesn't park consistently. I guess I'll have to learn to "time it" to get them to park correctly. So, it's still not perfect, but I'm thru messing with it and my frustration level has peaked, so I'll live with it. I guess these old trucks weren't made to accomodate the creature comforts of today.
Thanks man....i have been fighting to get them down to the cowl...trying to get her ready for the safety inspection this week so i can register and put some insurance on her....that way i can drive her to the shops instead of having someone follow me on the road with hazard lights....quite frustrating at times...TX is not nice to old trucks either with no paperwork....hopefully your installer can shed some more light on the subject....mines is stuck at the 10-11 o'clock position....sure does look funny...also the pics that fenders sent me from PF2003 shows that the blades can be down in the cowl unless those guys with went new wiper systems.....
I have fixed those crazy arms and wiper motor...thanks DS59F100 for the insight...that nut was a little bit tricky but i eventually got it going...well the next matter at hand is the doors.....
