I have a 2014 3.5 EB w/68K miles on it. Last week it started suddenly going into limp mode. I get the big wrench and the RPMs drop to 1000 with no throttle response. Turn the truck off and restart and all is good. It has done this about 4 times in the last week. No codes are stored. I have searched the forum and located a couple of similar posts that both ended up being the Electronic Throttle Body. There is never any warning and the truck seems to be running good other then that. I do all my own work on my vehicles but I Do Not like to just change out parts. Is there a way of testing the ETB or do I need to be able to read the fault live (I don't have that ability). Sounds like this may be a known issue.
Since I didn't get any response from anyone I am guessing that no one knows of a way to test the ETB outside of hooking up a computer and recording the data as you are going down the road and hope it repeats itself white the computer is connected or waiting until it throws a code or totally fails.
Because of the type of person I am. I took the unit off the truck yesterday and tore it down to see what I could see. As there is not much to them I didn't see much. I washed down the Throttle Position Sensor under the cap with MAF sensor cleaner and re-installed, Did the learn process I found during my search on the forum and it seems to start and run fine. I am guessing I fixed nothing and the problem will repeat but at least I tried something. The ETB is not to expensive so I may just order one and see if that will fix the issue. I don't like to do things that way but I can't have it stall like it does as it will catch me in a bad spot eventually.
I finally got a code. It stalled twice today but on the second incident I got a code to set. P2112, Throttle Actuator stuck closed. I was actually happy to see a trouble code pop up. At least now I know I was right as to the problem. Ordering a Throttle Body now.
Wish I had been logged in and saw this post. This happened to me in July on the highway going 70mph. Finally threw a code and could see what was wrong. New throttle body it was.
Just wanted to close this out for anyone searching the Forum with the same issue. I purchased a new Electronic Throttle Body from fordpartsgiant.com for $111. Easy to install and my truck is now running great with no further incidents.
