Latest Discovery of my gauge light drama...

So, I thought that this weekend would be the weekend I fix those lights. As I have said, they didn't work, then the did, now out. I did take everything apart after work today. #1 the circuit board is on nice shape, very pliable not like some others I have heard that turned to dust. I took the connector out, and also checked the lights to make sure they were seated right in the sockets.

Now I have a new issue? The windshield wiper light which didn't work before was kind of pulsing....dim to brighter - kind of if you would count 1-2-3, and the 1-2 was the dim to bright, and was back to dim. I cant tell if any other lights were doing it as it was daylight, as that light was right in front of me when I had the dash open. Ever heard of that? Also the turn signals work fine and the ALT and OIL light work fine along with the aftermarket radio. Any thoughts? Always appreciate it. I'm a newbie to all this stuff, and always wanted an old 70s truck, and I am learning so much about it because I can work on easily (not like my 2017 Explorer), and I can lean on folks from here that lend a hand who know wayyy more than me. Thanks again!

The part which is prone to crumbling is the back half of the cluster shell, the part the actual gauges are fastened to.

The printed circuit boards do not turn to dust, this does:

1975/79 F100/350, 1975/80 Econoline, 1978/79 Bronco:

The instrument cluster backs were made of a composition material that can TURN TO DUST before your very eyes!

In 1981, Ford introduced hard plastic instrument cluster backs for Econolines. These were also the "service part replacements" for the POS cluster backs used on the above.

There are two types: E1PZ-10848-A with oil/amp GAUGES & E1PZ-10848-B for oil/amp WARNING LAMPS. Both are obsolete, but are available NOS

Used: 1981/86 Econoline with WARNING LAMPS // 1981/91 Econoline with GAUGES.

Pic: 10848 is the instrument cluster back, 10K843 is the printed circuit board.
