84 f250 4.9. Just did a new gear box and lines. My Haynes manual says to use e6az-19582-aa. What is equivalent to this ? I’ve read ATF type f, does this sound correct? Thank you
When I installed the box & pump, took the best used ones between 2 trucks, I used good old ATF.
Now I only have it running to move in out of garage but so far works good.

Type F is correct do not use other fluids. Type F has a pretty aggressive additive package to prevent foaming, and this is needed in the Ford PS pumps.
I used ATF only because I did not have enough PS fluid. Could not tell you if it was type F or not?
Then again I don't know if my box is any good because everything else was so bad.

E6AZ-19582-AA is a bottle of P/S fluid, but it's the SAME as TYPE F ATF (it's red).
We did power steering fluid with a bottle of Lucas power steering in our f150 and was kinda blown away at the difference.
Then pulled fluid out of the f350 and added some Lucas and same diff.
differences are smoother, tighter and less power steering pump “noise”.
dont know why are how long it’ll last. Been about 2 years and no problems.

Cool.
so is Lucas trans additive type F too?
both these products are very thick. That’s type F?
put some Lucas oil additive in my manual gear box as it says it will help and it is quieter and smoother.
Is that stuff type F too?
added the Lucas trans to f150 auto tranny and wow, seems like a different tranny.
is it all just overpriced type F?

Pretty much.
B&M's Trick Shift Fluid is also just Type F.
Type F is 20-10% thicker than Dexron at temp and it has a much more aggressive additive package, one liter of Type F will convert several liters of Dexron to Type F style fluid.
You can run Type F in any Dexron III/Mercon tranny. Type F is a high friction fluid that allows the shifting clutches to lock up/ engage quickly minimizing slip. And does a much better job of keeping things clean in the tranny plus it has more conditioners in it for seals and what not..
Ford dropped Type F to get smoother shifts as Type F trannys shift more firmly than Dexron units, When Ford went to Dexron is when Ford started having tranny issues. The C6 and the C4 and even the FMX got their rock solid reputations in part due to the the Type F trans fluid they used initially. The AOD had the issues it did initially in part due the use of Dexron the trans was originally designed around Type F fluid back in the late 60's and when updated in the early 70's. Swapping an AOD to Type F will greatly improve shifts and the longevity of the trans. Ford did stay with type F for PS fluid till 96-98 due to the superiority of it compared to Dexron in this application. Eventually the additive package (primarily anti foaming) will break down and you end up with a noisy P/S pump when that happens it is time to flush and refill with fresh Type F. I have never had to replace a Ford P/S pump that used Type F, but I also only use Type F fluid and as soon as they start to make noise they get a fluid change.
