2017 delete pros/cons

as it reads i'm a double click away from ordering my delete kit for my 17 with 39,000 on the clock. local dealer said they would still honor my warranty if i delete, the head truck tech actually recommended it if i plan to keep the truck. i was going to do GDP ezlynk tunes. Just seeing what 17+ guys have to say about pros and cons and any tuning issues before i pull the trigger, i daily drive the truck 20 minutes to work and 20 minutes home, i feel like i never get a complete regen. any input would be appreciated

What the dealer SAYS and what really happens if there is a major problem will be two different things.
if the diagnoses or repair goes above the dealer level you will be SOL.
As soon as your truck is plugged into the IDS, ford will know its deleted.
it short, if you dont get it in writing (I bet they wont), you will have no warrentee.
That said, lots of people delete and have no problems. The number one engine warrentee issue is going to be emission components anyway so you will probably be fine. Just dont be mad the you lost your warrentee because of what YOU did.
I personally would wait at least till 50,000 miles minimum, and most likely 100,000, and then I would probably wait till I had a failure of an emission component that I would have to pay for.
You also need to be realistic about how long you will keep your truck. To trade in it will need to be stock. Too meny shops have gotten stuck putting emissions back on a deleted truck they sold so the dont deal with deleted trucks.
If you sell privet party you can also get stuck with the bill, and most people will want all the stock parts in case they need to sell or trade it in.
So, if you dont keep it for the rest of you life, you might have to return it to stock. Do not sell or get rid of you deleted items! You might need them at some point.
Ultimately. It's your choice, make sure you are ready to accept the consequences of something goes wrong.

What happens if you friend loses his job (when ford finds out he warrenteed a modified car) or changes jobs?
You asked for an opinion, I gave you one.
I am just giving you some "what ifs"
As far as Ford is concerned you warrentee is void as soon as you downloaded the tune, and your warrentee is through FORD not your friend. Your friend cant change that, all he can do is try to hide it. He may, or may not, be able to.
But, its sound to me that you have made up your mind already.

Haven’t made up my mind yet didn’t buy anything. Not sure what I want to do more or so looking for input for people that have done it not for people who are worried about the warranty

I was in the same boat as you a year ago, but with a 16. The biggest issue I’ve had was dealing with the sensor plugs, but now there are dead head plug caps available. My buddy is a master tech at my local dealer, and he gave me the same offer, with the same advice, and thankfully I hadn’t needed any assistance, short of his discount on all my maintenance items! Don’t look back, I’d do it again the same way..

I like bobv60's advice above and planned to do the same myself after doing all the research. I've currently go 82k miles on my 2015 F350 with no issues so far. Once the warranty is gone and some exhaust issue comes along, the sputnik will probably fall off.

Delete it. The 6.7L is a pretty solid engine and most warranty issues are emissions related anyways. Fix that, and 90% of the problems are gone. Anything else not engine related will still be covered under warranty. The manufacturer can't legally deny a warranty unless they can prove your modifications are what caused the problem. Outside of engine/transmission issues, your warranty is good without question.

All I will add is that the state or county that doesn't do emissions testing today may have to tomorrow. In Ca. dealers don't want the deleted trucks and if you sell private party the seller is responsible by law for the emissions testing.

This guy nailed it. I deleted mine at 20k, now at 80k on my 2015. Runs in stage 4 most of the time, turn it down to 3 when hauling the sleds in the winter. The only issues I've had since are a primary water pump and the upper oil pan leak that a few have had. Both completely covered, no questions asked, they even gave me a free oil change and filter with the oil pan leak. Find a good dealer before you bite the Bullitt, there are definitely some shady ones out there but a delete should not void your warranty unless it directly causes an issue, believing anything else is crazy.

Tyrant or Chaos is who I would use if you are dead set on running the EZ LYNK.

I would second tyrant tuning. Never heard anything bad about them. I would just run the blocker plates for the egr personally. Just lube up the manifold bolts repeatedly for a week or two before trying to remove them, they see allot of heat and some people have snapped them off in the exhaust manifold. The only thing you gain from a full egr removal is a couple less pounds and allot more labor, especially if you may have to return to stock.
