Trans issues

I'm working on fitting my motor and transmission in my 56 F100. I have a 302 out of a Comet and a Toploader out of a Mustang. My issue is that the shifter attaches on the end of the tail shaft. I would like to move it forward (want to keep bench seat). Anyone have advise or done this? I can't seam to find any shifter relocate bracket or linkage. A mother option is to put a Jeep top mount shifter in it, but heard their a little weak when shifting a toploader. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I used a torino tailhousing when I had a toploader in my 1953. It moves the shifter forward to clear seat.

What year Torino? Torino and Fairlane are the same 1968/71, because the Torino was an upscale Fairlane. No Fairlanes after 1971, no Torino's after 1976.
