Because those are not on the truck anymore. These are and it looks better in the picture. They're all rusted out and the tires need to come off so I'm doing it I want to do it once
Agreed with above, Black will phase out but youll never go wrong with Chrome/polished. Black has its place but I do not think it's on your truck at all
Black is kind of ricer-ish, for lack of a better description. It doesn't even look good on most of the new stuff. Although my Corolla is wearing uncovered black OEM steelies...
For some reason I'm not a fan of bolts or rivets around the edge of the rim 'joint' unless the bolts are the only detail, like on the old Center Lines and Cragar SSTs. I guess the old Ranger/Aerostar alloys are OK with the bolts and round holes, but they won't bolt onto an un-Crown-Vic'ed Dent.
Call me Melvin, but I'm kind of a purist for period-correct wheels. So with that, my vote goes for some chrome wagon-style wheels, or perhaps white ones.
I find most modern wheel designs to be too garish for my taste. It's like they're trying too hard to come up with something cool. But if you like them, they certainly won't ruin your truck - as long as you don't go crazy with the offset...
And that is a very nice truck! I'd maybe paint the rear bumper argent as well.
You might google "WELD" wheels. I was searching for them a couple years ago for my 1995 F-150, the finish on my OEM aluminum wheels were in bad condition and my neighbor had 16" slotted WELD aluminum wheels on his 1999 F-150. They closely resembled Ford OEM aluminum wheels. Unfortunately at the time of exhaustive search WELD stopped making 15" aluminum wheels for Ford's 5 x 5 1/2 (F-150) trucks. But they were still making their slotted 16" aluminum wheels for Ford 3/4 ton and above trucks. WELD wheels have had a stellar reputation for being forged vice cast and would think they still do.
I ended up getting my OEM Ford aluminum wheels re-finished. So that might be an option if you can find OEM Ford aluminum wheels in JY.
Thanks for all your input. Well I guess it's a done deal at my wife agrees with all of you. Happy wife happy life. I just wish I could find some old slots or turbines in 16".
Many, and I mean MANY, references to "Argent", light gray, silver this or that, & a few actual paint codes for the WHITE wheels. But,an original Ford color paint code is very elusive!! I found companies that sold generic colors that claimed to be a Ford wheel color. But almost all were a "fit ALL years" type color. For now at least ,I give up.
