Hello I am new here and just bought a 2014 f150 xlt supercrew with the 5.0 I have been a big fan of Ford's all my life and wanted this truck. Brought it home and next morning the battery is dead. I'm currently charging the battery and hoping it fixes it. I really don't want to tell people I have a POS Ford so any help would be much appreciated
Possibly just a dead battery, possibly something left on drained battery. I wouldn’t jump to it’s a POS. Did you buy it from a dealer? Maybe they’ll pony up for a new battery if the one in it is bad.
They put a "new" battery in it before I left the car lot. I just got it yesterday and only driven it once. I read on here that it needs to sit uninterrupted for 8 hours so I'm hoping it's just that. I charged it and when connecting the terminals the headlights flashed, would that interfere with the process?
Anything is possible. My 2013 still has the original battery. A 2014 might be on its 2nd battery.....why would the dealer put a "new" battery in it? Was the battery dead when you test drove it?
I test drove it on Saturday. It had the battery notification coming on and off. Went and got it on Tuesday. I charged it yesterday and let it sit all night started this morning but still done the battery notification. Hopefully it starts after work
If they really put a new battery in, you shouldn't need to charge it. Let it sit undisturbed for 8 hours (don't open close door, touch keyfob, key pad, anything) should reset the BMS.
If you still have an issue after that - would confirm they actually put a new battery in and look to the charging system next.
Don't forget to follow the instructions in the owner's manual regarding changing and/or the battery and the need to rest the BMS (Battery Management System).

After battery replacement, or in some cases after charging the battery with the external charger, the BMS requires eight hours of vehicle sleep time (key off with doors closed) to relearn the new battery state of charge. Prior to relearning the state of charge, the BMS may disable electrical features (to protect the battery) earlier than normal.
*NOTE: FoMoCo dealership service can reset the BMS using their IDS (Intergrated Diagnostic System) negating the eight hours of vehicle sleep time requirement.
