Tuners and exhaust. what are you guys using?

Figured it's time to do some mods to the truck. It's got 135K miles on it and hasn't given me any problems so I figure it's time to hop it up a bit. What's everyone using for exhaust and a tuner? Have you noticed any real gains in mileage or power?

I'm running a Borla S-Type and love it. Nice and mellow at low RPMs (and won't wake up the neighborhood) and deep rumble at higher RPMs. As with any exhaust, sound is subjective. If you want something louder all the time, the Borla ATAK might be the one for you.

Borla makes quality products but expect to drop about 1k on the system. I live in the rust belt so a quality stainless system was a must.

As with ANY cat-back system on these late-model trucks, there are marginal gains to be had in mileage or performance - it's strictly for better acoustics. The factory system isn't restrictive like the old-school ones were.

Can't speak for tuners as I don't have one.

Don't have a tuner, so can't recommend one over the other. I have been searching about exhaust systems and Borla seems to be the top dog from what I've read. I ordered the "Borla Touring" and should have it by the end of the week, so I'll keep you updated. BTW Stage 3 has a 10% discount on Borla exhaust untill Aug. 31st.

Aero 3030xl muffler in place of stock and LOVE IT! Had it for two years now.

Running a SCT4 tune with 5 star tunes, not as impressed as I hoped I’m thinking of trying another company for tunes.

I too am running the BORLA S-TYPE & completely agree with Robb
I currently have some JBA HEADERS en-route also to compliment my exhaust & cant wait for their arrival
I also have an SCT X4 TUNER however I am only running canned Tunes currently. SCT advises a 20 hp / 30 ft lb max increase with canned their canned tunes. Obviously a custom tune can do much better, but as of yet I don't have enough "go fast" parts to make a custom tune necessary. As far as Mileage goes, I don't play the numbers game. I drive my **** like I stole it everytime I drive them for the most part. I will say my Truck displays an 16.1 Avg & I drive it mainly short trips when I do drive it.

I have Borla Touring on my 6.2 and it is under warranty so no Tuner.
Gas Mileage, notice a big gain when I keep it under 60 on the Freeway, And that was the 3 of the most boring miles in a while

I'm in the same boat. I want some more exhaust sound, but I'll wait until the current muffler needs replacement. I had Magnaflow dual exhaust on my F250 with the 5.4 and it sounded good without the droning of a flowmaster.

A K&N cold air intake system was on my 2011 4X4 XTR when I bought it. It really adds some go to the 5.0, and it sounds like a grizzly bear is grouling under the hood when you get on it just a little. It sounds stock when cruising.

I am running 3.5 eco 5* 91 tune and stock muffler. Replaced the resonator with a home made cut out assembly. (Walker 51105 and some 2.5" pipe with a cut out added in the middle. Cost like $35 + the electric motor) Don't know if overall power is up but cant keep the tires hooked with it open beyond half throttle. Turbo spools so much faster with it open. I like the ability to only be loud when I choose to. Stock noise otherwise.

Hi there. Currently running all AFE as in intake, exhaust and tuner on 13' 3.5 Eco. No problems with any of them, and they have been on for at least four years. Great quality stuff, highly recommended. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the replies. So, it sounds like a cat back isn't going to really add any power, just some sound???

Any experiences with Diamond Eye systems? I heard one on a 2017 5.0 F150 and it sounded good.

I'm after power gains and mileage gains (if it can be done), Seems like exhaust will not offer any help here... just a tuner...?
