Remote Oil Filter Location?

I am looking to eliminate the block mounted oil cooler on my 1997 F350 4x4 w/7.5l and replace it with a remote filter and cooler. My question is "where to mount the remote filter"? Has anyone on here done this and where did you mount it?
Thank you.

I did it on my 5.8 (sorry) & it's a dual set up.

Driver's side frame rail with trimmed inner fender, filters protruding slightly into area behind wheel.

I'd do driver's side frame rail like on a '97-04. If you actually use your truck off road enough to want to protect it then it shouldn't be hard to fabricate some sort of bracket for that location.

Mine is mounted up behind the front bumper - super easy to get to for oil changes and protected from rocks and such.

I mounted mine behind the rear bumper, it was easy because I just zip tied the lines to the exhaust.

Thank you for the pics and suggestions. i like the rear bumper location, but my exhaust stops a little short, so i cant zip tie it up the last couple feet, so I guess I will have to locate the filter somewhere else. With that said, I am going to fab a new bracket between the radiator support and the coolant expansion tank, replacing the existing support bracket and removing the plastic air intake tube. I also plan to do something with air filter, just not sure what yet. Thanks again for the help. I will post pics when done.

So you’re going to buy one of those expensive open element hot air intakes?

What is is wrong with the current location of the filter?

At the risk of asking a dumb question...
I can see how in Scndsin's case he's getting extra filtering with two filters, but what is the purpose of relocating a single oil filter?... Just easier access?

With the factory oil cooler, you have to run a smaller size filter.

Plus there are known instances of the aluminum in the adapter corroding to the point of coolant infiltrating the oil supply.

Particularly on the big blocks

Then there is a 7.5 transplant into 150s that require a remote I believe.

.

Make sense. I'm ditching the factory oil cooler on my 5.8L build so I can just run a Motocraft FL-1A filter.
