I have a 75' F100 with the 360FE in it and a Motorcraft 2150, the engine refuses to idle properly it has a surging lopey idle whenever I pull up to a stop, but the second you give it any gas the problem goes away. The previous owner said it had a vacuum leak at the carb gaskets so I replaced those, no difference. So I gave it a tune-up plugs, cap rotor, wires and timed it to 8 deg btdc no better. I started hunting for vacuum leaks with a can of starter fluid around the base of the carb and the throttle shafts, didnt have any change in rpm. I tried adjusting the idle mixture valves leaner made it worse, and richer didnt seem to have any affect. Where should I start looking next? Time for a new carb?
Did you check for leaks along intake to heads and all vacuum lines?
Did your tuneup include new fuel filter?
The 2150 is an easy carb to rebuild get a kit and rebuild it as I am sure it could use a good cleaning.
Also don't know if it has a power valve but that could be leaking causing the problem.
