I've got a problem with my wipers coming off the park position. It happened suddenly.
I did a lot of work on our Bullnose today (new reduction starter, new batteries, rerouted the cables, strengthened the hold-downs) and before a test drive I figured I'd squirt off some of the Central Texas dust and turn on the wipers.
All was fine for a minute, then the wipers started to have trouble coming up off the park position. I tried giving them a little help by hand, but the resistance seems to be internal, not caused by the blades on the windshield. I searched the excellent FAQ here but found naught.
Anybody ever had a similar issue? My daughter has to drive it to work tomorrow, but when she gets home I plan to lube up the wiper mechanism below the cowl grill. Lubrication always helps...
You might have a problem with your dash switch. All it does is give it power through the park "dead zone" created by the cam switch inside the motor. After that, the motor gets power from the cam switch. Turn the dash switch off, and the wiper motor keeps going because of the cam switch, till it gets to the park dead zone, and then it stops. You need power from the dash switch to get wipers out of the park dead zone, so wiggle it around and play with it.
