The fact that your local Ford dealer made the decision to replace the parts does not bode well for others that have and will have the problem of disintegrating headlights. Every dealer cannot afford to do that and I would swag that many just would not.
Pity the poor guy whose truck fails a safety inspection for headlights five years into the future.

Recommend that you get some 3M clear protective covers, like the clear bras that they apply to paint. If not, only clean (all of) your lighting lenses with Plexus. It is THE ONLY thing to use on polycarbonates. It is the only thing you can use on Harley-Davidson windscreens, anything else and they won't cover it under warranty. It cleans and nourishes the material like surface protectants for vinyl and plastics. Well worth the money.
