I figure I'd ask for someone that maybe use gas struts. Been living with no hood springs for 30yrs and use
a prop stick. Problem is the older I get I need young blood to lift it . I know hinges are sold same as a pick up this is a 1954 F800 So I'm looking for what strut, how long and where to install. Seems as the last
ten years or so, this hood gained 200lbs. the reason to open hood every day is, it uses a quart of power
steering fluid a day (weeping piston) got a new piston but been to busy to install it. sam
electric actuators maybe = air cylinders maybe = park it under a tree with a chain fall lol
The simplest way to go would be a gas-charged strut. I don't have a ready source for your truck but here is a link to a 40 Ford supplier, http://www.mr40s.com/mr.-40-s-stuff.html, maybe you can get an idea from what he is offering. These struts are very common and easy to install, Mr 40s kits come with the struts, *****, and weld-on mounting plates...you may be able to adapt one of these kits.
