29 months ago I bought a BakFlip Vp for my F150. Like many of you I struggled with the decision on brand. I really liked the low profile of the Vp it had great reviews and could fold up against the rear of the cab leaving nearly the whole bed open. The performance has been marginal at best, this truck is parked inside nearly all the time even while at work. As you can see the workmanship is subpar. If the F150 wasn’t getting traded tomorrow I’d contact Bak for warranty issues.
Yikes...that cover looks bad for its age. Had the same cover for almost 3 yrs on my '13 F-150 and it held up great. Took it off when I traded the truck in last year and gave it to my son in law for his '13 F-150 and it still looked good until he traded his truck on a new F250...cover is still running around somewhere with a 3rd owner! Went with the BakFlip MX4 on my F350 and it's built heavier and has been holding up great so far...sorry you had that problem.

Recently bought a Truck Gear hard top tonneau cover
from Linex. It is identical to the Bak F1 because it is made by Bak for Linex. It has a lifetime warranty since it’s Linex
That does not look like subpar workmanship to me. That looks like damage. I don't know about the VP, but on my MX4, the inner sheeting of the panel is Aluminum, and would not just peel away like that, without something, or someone pulling at it.
This picture is with the rear most panel flipped open one and laying on the second panel, it is the underside of the tonneau.
Yes, but you can clearly see, the both panels in that shot are damaged (and damage that does not appear to be a manufacturing defect). It looks like the cover may have been closed on something in the bed that made contact, as the edge of the panel that is right side up, is bent upward, and the edge of the panel that is upside down is bent downward. If it was not closed on something it could also be that someone hit it, in an attempt to break through the cover and gain access to whatever you might have had inside (Thieves are everywhere). That might also explain why in your photo with it closed, that hinge appears to be sloped downward (and holding water), if someone mistook it for a regular vinyl cover and tried to punch/cut through.
