My buddy has a 2017 F-150 and he has Ford Pass and he is able to check his fuel level, start his ruck from his phone, ect..
Do our trucks have that? 2018 F-250 Platinum?
thanks
No. The 2019 do but not the 2018. I think you can add the module to the truck but you pay a fee to Ford and then you have to pay for the cellular service. This feature and the wifi hotspot is why I waited to order a 2019.
I have ford pass on my 2018 platnum. I do not know about starting the truck with the phone. But I can look at the total miles. Oil life, and fuel level on my cell phone, even when not by the truck.
I doubt it is real time, most likely just the readings from the last time the phone was connected
Thanks guys. Tomorrow I'll head to my dealership and see what is up with this. At least I have a part number.
you got me started and been doing a lot of looking .
that part member is for the older ford pass system. Not the newest sync connect system and it doesn't look like it works on the 2018 trucks.
you should be able to download the fordpass app to your cell phone and connect to your truck for some stuff.
from everything I read the sync connect is what you (and I) want and is NOT YET available if your vehicle did not come with it.
I am VERY hopeful that Ford wont leave a bunch of (all) 2018 superduty owners high and dry on this.
I am going to call ford in the morning and see if they have any updates

The more I think about it the more I think we, as '18 owners are screwed in this aspect. My wife has the Sync Connect (the topic here) on her explorer (I say her's, I just pay for it) and the only really neat function that I would not mind having is the cellular remote start and the timer function, you can program it to start on a timer. Very nice if you live/work out of FOB range of where you park. As the '17s had a different systems and the new feature is included in the '19s, with the '18s being a short production year, the profit is not there to offer the hardware to us select few.
The '18s have the wireless network access hub so a lot of the FordPass app features work like.... fuel level, mileage, and warning codes. Every time I am in the truck working, listening to the radio, my phone tells me there is a charging fault and asks if I want to schedule a dealer appointment.
I came across this article and this part on ford's website. It looks like it is just plug and play but can't find details to know if this is the correct part.
Ford pass doesn’t do the health reports in Canada. Only in the USA connected to the Ford.com site. If we connect to .ca or .com, we still don’t get a vehicle health report. I spent a tonne of time on this trying to get it to work. Ford was no help. I have Forscan now. I believe the AppLink was an option on a platinum or king ranch in 2018, maybe even 2017. Mine doesn’t have it, mine is not a custom order but off the lot Lariat Ultimate. There are threads on here where guys have got this working on 2017 and 2018.

If your 2018 Platinum has SYNC Connect then yes, you can also do that with Ford Pass.

The Ford SmartLink module is for 2017 and older vehicles not 2018 vehicles.
