At the bottom of that page is a number for Nate. Give him a call and ask him if it works on the 18. I couldn't find a a dealer within 100 miles that even knew this part was out. Nate does a ton of these and was very helpful.

Thanks! Nate is the man. Tried my dealership first but they were clueless. Tasca parts was no help either. He confirmed that Ford updated it in the background on their end to be able to work on a 2018 and many systems are not updated yet. Need ford factory remote start (which I don't have). $425 for the adapter and the factory remote start. Includes 2 years of service.
When I talked to ford they said only some of there dealers ste set up to sell smartlink.
I was told by two different people that smart link will work on 2018 superdutys, one said it will do wifi hotspot.
so it looks like smart link is what we get.
Nate is a great guy. Once you get the unit he will help set it up. There is some programming a dealer will have to do for you, but Nate provides full instructions (Ford documentation) on how to do this. Since I did some of it on the phone with Nate, I pulled those out of the instructions to my local dealer. I only gave them the steps they needed to perform and nothing else.

Is there a part number for the smartlink for the ‘18.
It might be easier to ask for a specific part # to see if they have it than trying to describe it to someone behind a desk that doesn’t have a clue.

I will post the part number as soon as I get it. He knew exactly what I was talking about. It should arrive Monday.
appreciate the info gentleman. So all we need is Sync connect and the smart link module? Which we are working on obtaining a part #?
yue should be able to download the Ford pass app on you cell phone and that should get you the vehicle reports, total miles, fuel level and oil life. At least it did on my 18 platnum.
Sync connect is the newest and it is not available unless the vehicle came wit it.
Smart link is what is available, and even though most places show its doesn't work on 18 Superdutys, it does.
I cant figure out the costs. It might be around $400 with 2 years of free FORD monthly plan, that's $17.00 a month. But then you need the Verizon monthly plan.
If you have Verizon now you can add the truck to share your current data for $10.00 a month.
if you dont, its $10.00 a month PLUSE a data fee. I think 2 Gig was $35.00 a month. So between 45 and 55 a month for me. That's a lot of money to remote start the truck with the cell phone.
DOEs this let your service seenwhere your teuck is at in case it gets stolen?
as far as I can tell it does, to some degree. You will need good cell reception, but, the unit itself plugs into the diagnostic port, a so a thief can just unplug it and that's the end of that.
Its more for us seniors that cant only not remember what car we took to the mall, but also where we parked it.

If your vehicle has SYNC Connect, the Smart Link module is not needed.
SYNC Connect equipped vehicles come with a built in modem and the service is through AT&T.
Smart Link is for vehicles that didn`t come equipped with SYNC Connect and Verizon is the cell service provider.

Correct - you do need the factory remote start also if you do not have that. I have a 2018 XLT with sync 3, but not sync connect. For those asking on pricing, the fordlink should be around $350 inclusive of 2 years coverage and the factory remote start is $150. Nate told me to install factory remote start, add it with Forscan then contact him to get the account activated before plugging in fordlink. Only the selling dealer can activate it, and they were clueless when I called them, but he is proving instructions to make their lives easy.
