I'll be out of business soon if I don't get a van. I have a carpet cleaning business and my e150 has about had it.
I can't afford new.
I just found a 92 E350 extended with 111,000 mls on a 7.3
Diesel.
I know nothing about Diesels.
Can I get any feedback on this engine?
Thanks, Dan
Check the diesel heading but in general I have read and heard that this engine is a good one and should be relatively trouble free. The only gotcha I have heard about is that if you have an automatic E4OD on it, there was a problem with the torque Converter not standing up to heavy service. That has been resolved with a redesign on later models, or so my tranny shop told me.
Regular maintenance is the key to keeping this engine, and most others happy.
I have a F250 7.3 diesel with 135K and have owned it for about a year. It isn't the turbo diesel but if don't need the extra power, I figure that's one less thing to go wrong. Many consider the 7.3 International to be the best diesel on the automotive market. With regular maintenance, specifically oil changes, the engine should go at least 250k miles before any major repair. The weak link, as mentioned in the previous reply, is the transmission. I would recommend a diesel especially for a business rig. They are efficient and reliable.
just remember about the cavitation problems with the ford 7.3. I have personally replaced 4 7.3 L because of pin holes in number 7 cylinder!!!! I am a die hard ford fan but I will never purchase a 7.3L unless it has been resleeved!! go for the PSD MUCH BETTER!!!!
