EFI 460 Differences?
I have a 1990 f250 (115k) I picked up for $500 just for the motor to put it in my 94 F350 CC. I didn't know about the differences at that time.
Can I put the newer heads on the older short block without and problems? I found a 96 motor for $170 or $70 for the heads only at the local pull & save. No clue on condition or miles at this point.

Parts swapping isn't engine building. Shopping in a catalog isn't engine building. Parts don't make power, systems make power.
You can make more rpms, more cylinder pressure or more cubic inches. Or you throw your time and money away. Stick with proven builds, don't throw your money away.
You are going to burn more fuel to make more power. It cost you now and it keeps costing you.

Its not that I'm trying to make more power as much as I'm trying not to loose power. My motor is using coolant and burns enough oil to be annoying. I do plan on doing a EFI friendly comp cam to help out some and headers. Headers mainly to ditch the factory garbage. But thanks for the info on interchange for parts.

Speed Density friendly cam is about vacuum at idle. The engine builders over at the 460ford website have gotten good results using marine cams that ramp up faster. That is the difference with roller cams, they ramp up faster. They are pushing the flat tappets to their limit with the more aggressive ramps. Read over there some, it's addictive.
If you spend some time and money you can zero deck the 460, cam it, do some porting and make it what it should have been.
