I believe it will physically fit, as they are largely the same motors. There may however be other things that doesn't fit, like engine mounts, electrical connectors, exhaust manifolds, the belt driven accessories in the front of the engine and various vacuum points. It's a whole new generation in the 2003 models, so there's probably differences. If the old engine is shot and you're looking to replace it, you may be able to pull it out, have them both side by side and just swap over what's necessary. That should work fine, but no guarantees.
