The door handle broke off on my father's 93 F-150. To replace it he must remove the door panel, which requires first removing the window crank handle. Does anyone know how to get the window crank handle off?? I'm assuming it's something simple, but don't want to risk breaking another handle.
Thanks
Nate

the window handle has a clip on the back that holds the handle on. you can buy a tool for it, but a screwdriver will work.
push the panel away from back of handle and look in the space you created. the clip is a sort of c-shaped thing that is bent in and then out near the ends. it fits in slots on either side of the handle. it engages a groove that goes around the crank .
if you push lightly on end of clip, it will expand outward and start to come off. take your time and it will slip off and allow you to pull handle out off of shaft.
Sometimes they haave a cover that you have to pop off and then you will find a screw under it going in from the front. Grasp under the pivot axis of the crank and pull out. The cover should pop off and swing on the **** end of the crank.

Mostly every type of window crank that I have seen on these type trucks are held on by screws. Either the screw is exposed or you need to pop the crank cover off to allow access to the screw head.
I went out and looked at one of my later model trucks, and as stated by jake and others, you will pop off the cover to get at screw. be careful, some look as if they are not able to be pulled apart, but if you look closely, the cover does pop off . the cap is as long as the whole handle.
In case anyone else ever breaks off their inside door handle (and according to the dealer parts department lots of folks do)- the good news is that you don't need to take the door panel off anyway. All of the work can be done in about 5 minutes through the door handle hole. Just thought I'd pass that info along.
