Recently purchased a 1992 f250 with a 460. Truck runs great no steam out exhaust have flushed entire cooling system twice but still get lots of brown sludge in coolant even after adding 2 gallons of new coolant. Does seem to be a small leak at base of intake manifold. Don't think the heads are bad it seems to run great. No missing. Also seems yo be no coolant in oil

Reason: Misspell
Might be a stop leak additive that the prior owner put in the coolant.
I added some to a Taurus earlier this year. Can’t recall the name of the additive but it looked like sludge in the degas bottle after it ran awhile. Worked though.
Are you having any cooling issues? is the sludge very noticeable?. It might just be old rust, but a proper flush should clean everything out, as in, you might want to keep flushing until there are no contaminants left in the cooling system. Asking the PO might give you some ideas too.
+1 on the stop leak, i have a confirmed case of this. A truck I bought, received the truck from the buyer, brown sludge, previous owner didn't say anything about it, upon questioning him, confirmed.....just FYI
