Coolant loss.

So, my '11 F150 5.0 (132k mi) is losing coolant at roughly a quart every couple days.

When I bought it almost 4 months ago, the factory coolant was muddy looking, so I flushed the system with distilled water and switched to normal green coolant after the system was clean.

I have inspected every coolant connection and cannot find an active leak.

At the degas bottle bottom connection, there is white crusty film from what looks like an old leak, but I've had my pressure tester on it for over an hour with no external leak, but it did lose 2 lbs over 30 minutes.

The smell is obvious with the hood open.

Interesting note: I ran the truck with my tester on the degas bottle, and when it was warm, it was reading 18 lbs of pressure while the cap was listing a 16 lb limit.

Is there any way to isolate any internal coolant leaks, or is it tear it apart and find out?

Are there any common coolant leak points that I'm missing?

I appreciate your help!

There is a tester you can buy at Napa that tests for exhaust gas in the coolant. Sounds like it's going to have to come apart either way though.
