Alright guys so I have a 2003 f350 6.0 230,000 miles. My check engine light keeps coming on with p2138 and p2140 it says pedal position sensor circuit low and give either circuit a,e or e,f I cant remember. It's for the same thing just different circuits. The pedal assembly with the sensor has been changed 2 times with new ones. But still comes back with the same problem i.e no throttle response and throttle surges a little bit while driving. Most of the time it can be stopped my turning the truck off and starting it back. But I cant get the sensors to stop throwing these codes. They can be cleared but end up returning later. Other than this the truck runs great. The problems are intermittent such as before it gave me trouble this time it has been like 3 weeks since I had any issue. Could this be faulty parts from the parts store or something else. Also the wiring has been checked and no bare spots or any problems on inspection. Thanks for any help.
I would start watching the Vref voltage. What you may find is it is dropping out. Vref should be at about 5.0V It can vary a bit. If you see it dropping out then
check the EBP sensor wiring to be sure that has not gotten a failure of the insulation and then shorting out. Also like Mark said take a good look at the wiring to the
peddle assembly. This becomes even more of an issue if you have the moving type.
There was a guy that had issues with the peddles and was tole to watch the Vref and he didn't. They tossed a bunch of parts at it and still did not get it fixed. He finally
checked the Vref and the EBP sensor and found a short. After repairing that connector the problem was gone.
