Mod chips/horsepower upgrade chips

How many of you are using any of these modifications? I've been doing some research and have heard lots of opinions on these. I'm curious to see if anyone is using them, and if so what kind of improvements/problems have you had?

I know in our little group (1 F250, 2 F350's, all with 6.0L PSD) of friends this question can lead to some rather heated debate over the campfire, so I only hope we can keep the "flames" down here, as it's hard to cook marshmallows over a forum board!!

Haven't done a thing to mine - and may not -
seems to run fine as is...
and don't want to create a warranty issue until I'm sure it's ok...

but that's just me...

Mod chips/horsepower upgrade chips

Hi Guys,
I was looking at getting the Torqueforce module since I am looking for some gains in HP & torque, basically a better and stronger running truck but without hotrodding it. The only concerns I have with the Torque force module is the following statement in the description of the Module:
Qoute:
" With a flip of a toggle switch, you can gain from 60 to 110 horsepower which can be felt starting from 1900rpm through redline"
Does this mean that it does nothing below 1900rpm?
I plan on calling some shops soon and visit some Diesel-mechanics to get their view on aftermarket goodies.
I was planning on going with these 3 mods:
1. Module or tuner
2. AFE intake with Proguard 7 filter
3. 4" stainless exhaust
Hopefully we'll get some views from some fellow forum members who have taken this task on already.
Cheers,
Bryce

Bryce,
true, it's hard to get anything were you have very little now !
And most of our 6.0L's have next to nothing below 1500 rpm's !!!

And that fact alone AMAZES me !!!

Come on FORD! MOST diesels are known for their tremendous torque - and down low !!! If I wanted a high reving engine that needed 10,000 rpm's to generate power I would have stayed with my two-cycle motorcycles !!!!

Don't get tme wrong - I like this Ex, it's the BEST travelling vehicle EVER - and I've had NICE motorhomes, too! but Ford left so much more on the table that we should have!

I presume the 'gutlessness' below 1500 rom's or so is due to factors like turbo lag that needs to build boost, slow fueling at those low rpm's, and slow throttle response...

our accelerators are not mechanical and so it seems to me that it's as if the throttle has some 'slack' in it...

I do recall the 7.3L Ex I had before had similar symptoms, but not nearly as pronounced... and the use of the microtuner seemd to really help both the throttle response and the shift performance.

Maybe these modules will do the same thing for the 6.0's !

And thanks for reminding me about the accelerator pedal 'slowness' ! Mine's in the shop now for some 'fine tuning' and I forgot to ask them to look at that !

-cu,
john

I just purchased my first Diesel a 2004 F250 Lariat FX4 crew cab SWB with 6.0 and torqshift. it was built in 07/03.

I just installed after 1 week old and 600 miles the following items and man does it fly. i havent gone racing but will try pretty soon.

1) AFE air intake
2) Magnaflow 4" turbo back with 3" downpipe
3) Edge Power Module 2
4) Catz HID Headlights

The power increase is unbeleivable. i actually dont want to get off the truck.

it's a lot of fun hot rodding the diesel and on that pedal the site administrator informed me that he has the same pedal for a bit cheaper I looked for it and couldn't find it some readers have suggested that I am promoting <!-- pauls products --> but I promote all of the products that have worked the best banks,<!-- ts,pauls -->,mag-hytek,powershot2000,so if you can find the pedal for a better price I always say go for it when you can get a better deal apples to apples of course.good luck guys.

Are the Catz HID's true HID's? What do you think about them?

I have been running the Edge Module for 4000 miles and it works awsome you wont believe how much faster it will be. I have done some towing and boy what power it will spin the tires at take off towing a 10000lb trailer if you dont watch it. I would do it again I love it.

Hello. Sorry for the delay in responding but I have been out of town.

The HID lights are true HID and have ballast, igniters, high low controller. They work great. I had to switch since i went from a 2003 navigator with HID's and once you use them you dont want anything different.

As for the module it is excellent. i always keep it in the 50 hp setting since i dont have a pyro meter. i am waiting for the attitude screen from edge to connect.

i went on a highway trip to pick up a trailer and while not hauling i got 19mpg at 70mph.

when towing i had a 38' gooseneck with 30,000 pounds on it and my gas mileage at 70 mph went down to 6mpg.

ok guys,
Don't bash me too hard cause I'm bow-tie guy but ended up getting a Juice/Attitude combo. 6 power settings (0-5) with 5 being 125 horses and 350 ft/tq over stock. Thats haul'en and thats just the Juice. I see that they got 1 for PSD now. I know it's lil more pricy but it's far less expensive then all the pilar mount stuff that the Attitude can do. You can manage the defuel between shifts, boost at low fuel, monitor things like EGT's, Tranny slip, lockout, etc, etc, etc. Edge is a pretty respected company. I'd give'em a look..
