Or put a toggle switch in the wire going to coil, shut off power to coil and crank engine till pressure comes up. Turn switch on and start.
That still does not eliminate "dry starts", you still have metal to metal contact until the oil pressure comes up, not to mention needlessly stressing the battery/starter.
With a pre-oiling system you have oil pressure before the engine even starts! As soon as the key is turned on (RUN) the system is pressurized.
Very few people use them but they can double the life of your engine, as we all know 50% of engine wear happens during the first few seconds of start-up!

Thanks for your reply. The purpose of the pre lube system is to preserve the engines from that era so by doing that I am not fixing anything I am preserving it !!!!!
