Code 18???
I pulled codes and got an 18. My book says it's "Loss of tachometer / IDM circuit failure / SPOUT circuit grounded". So which problem is it and how do I fix it?

If the tach. is not working ,fix it.I would check to make that spout wires are ok and that plug is clean and in all the way in. Im not sure what the IDM is/or does so I cant help you there.

Pinpoint tests are a series of diagnostic tests that are performed to diagnose a given circuit/component. A good repair manual (Helm, Mitchell, Motor) will have the pinpoint tests in an article called computerized engine controls (about 200 pages). If you don't own a professional manual, you might try going to a public or college library and finding it. Even my small town library has many Mitchell manuals
You could simply replace the IDM, but that may not fix the problem. Best to find the real problem and fix it.
