Trailer Charging Circuit

The trailer charging circuit on my 97 isnt working, no power at the pin in 7 way connector.
As far as I know the 30A maxi fuse at position 18 is for this circuit and the relay beside it controls it. Is this correct? Does the relay have and id number also?
I would like to be able to trace the wire from the fuse box to the trailer connector. Does anyone have the wiring diagram showing this circuit, or even just the wire's colour code?

Do you have the relays installed in the trailer relay box.
One is for the trailer backup lamps, the other is for the trailer charging circuit

Hmmmm

I guess I don't...

Where does it connect? Is it Towing Package only? Is it possible to retrofit it?

I'm interested too. Tomorrow I'll check to see if I have that relay. Isn't that curcuit also protected by one of the fuse's to the left in that picture?

Checked with the local Ford dealer this morning, and the part number for the pigtail with the 2 relays and 2 connectors that I am missing is part # F4TZ-14A346-A.
But of course is not available anymore. off to searching wreckers I guess.

Trailer Charging Circuit

Diesel_Dirk, if I were you I would forget about using the charge line in the truck going to the seven wire plug. Go to RV.net in Truck Camper University look for electrical upgrades. There is a description by Matthew_B of a Heavy Gauge Charging System installation that some owners of pickup campers have installed. I used this system to charge my two group 29's in the camper and a pair of Trojan T-105's in the bed of the truck. This will deliver many more charging amps to the batteries than that small #12 wire that is typically used. It uses a 4 gauge wire off the alternator through a constant duty solenoid through a circuit breaker and back to the batteries. The solenoid is only closed when the key is on so there is no chance of running down the truck battery. In your case the only downside is having to rewire the line in the fiver. Even then I think you would be much happier with the result.
I have a source with part numbers and costs for the items used in the installation if you are interested.
