351 crank question
Last week I picked up a 351c block and the guy threw in a crankshaft and rods he said went with that block, when I got home I noticed the crank had 3 machined holes in the counter weight telling me it’s been internally balanced before, can I reuse this crank or is it toast and I should just toss it? Thanks!

If it has holes drilled, it has been made lighter, typically for a lighter rotating assembly. You would see heavy metal added to make it internal balance.
Very possible to still use the crankshaft.

Ok thanks TMI I have never seen this on the various engines I’ve bought before and wasn’t sure if the crank was junk at this point, I should take the crank to the machine shop and see what they have to say I can also pick up a complete 351c from this guy for $300 and use the crank from it but I was hoping to use this one if it’s useable
