I have a 92' f150 4x4 5.8 automatic. I recently went and filled up at the pump and when I started up the engine it died before it idled down. Then smelled the odor of burning wires. I have no spark and the fuel pump isn't coming on. I've change the ignition module and coil and ignition switch...motor still turns over but not crank all fuses are good. ???
Someone else just had the exact same symptoms and issues. One of our valued members, Subford said it was the PMC (computer). It seems the no spark no fuel and the smell was an easy diagnosis . Yes,it was fried. So, I would check that first. Plenty of threads on search on how to do it and what to look for when you pull it. Sandy
Open the computer, see what's smoked, then see if you can track down what component or sensor is connected to that circuit. I don't know the ECUs in these well enough to know if there's a common culprit.
Truck fixed. Needed a cpu...2 days later. Want crank again but at least the fuel pump works this tim

Well your PCM controls the fuel pumps but if you turn the key and you hear the fuel pump continue running then the PCM is bad, most likely, if the fuel pump comes on for a second and then shut off that kinda rules the PCM out but maybe not.
