Well I think and hope I found and fixed last oil leak on truck.
did ebv delete pedestal last year.
New cnc Fab hpop lines last week.
Ipr has been leaking oil at o ring that seals at reservoir.
My truck had a bad miss when hot. I could spray cold air on ipr and it would stop.
So I figured the coil was bad.
With that and it leaked I could justify buying a new one at $165
I'm riding up to a case knife dealer now to look at new knives. I figure a 70 mile round trip will let me observe how truck is running.
And I can always use a new knife.
Nhope this pic isn't as big as it looks.
off topic . But a knife I just finished for a buddy that's an army ranger deployed in Iraq. Not my style but what he wanted to carry with him in battle.
Hope it serves him well and keeps him safe.
Please pass along our thanks for his service and we hope he returns home soon.
The knife looks nice. I can appreciate the craftsmanship and talent that goes into making something like that, but I am a firearms guy through and through.
Here is to hoping you fixed your issue with the new IPR...
I'm trying to make enough for the guys with him.
i think he said 18 guys.
Lots of work on my part.
But like you my respect for our military guys and wemon runs deep.
So I'm making 19 knives for no charge to them.
Last one I reworked. Sanded down to 1500 grit paper.
and 12 layers of hand rubbed true oil.
IvI' got 3 . One 243 and two 6mm.
I grew up shooting my dad's 6mm

well heck if I had known this I would have requested one for my grandfather who served in the Army, sadly he passed but would have been nice to send him off with it...please tell your friend to be safe and come home alive.

You did a fine job on that... I like the trigger being of a different color than any of the rest of the weapon.
Nice work Don, so you are a blacksmith/knifesmith as well as a welder? Are you on any of the smithing forums like iforgeiron? I have a small smithy myself with coal and propane forges and a couple of anvils. The only thing I am low on is skill.
They didn't sell great when they came out . Early 60's . The original mod 600's
they have a weird doglegged bolt handle.
Vent rib like a shotgun. And 18" barrel.
then foot two years (68-69) it was mod 660 no vent rib and 20" barrel.
Then back to mod 600 (Mohawk) from 70 to last ones in 78. No vent and 18" barrel.
they only made 220 in 223 and those or upward of $3000
Sold at places like Sears for $99 when new.
Last one took me 5 years to find and i paid $525 .
But there great brush guns
Big b. Wish I had more time to do knife work.
i really enjoy doing it.
I have a 30x40 shop . But no forge stuff yet.
I use 1095 spring steel so far. A few rap files for blades . But I don't like them.
When my boys get out of college and off in the world I'd like to spend more time working on knifes.
I may make a few a year. Then go year or so not.
Two I finishing up now
I've always liked old ways of doing stuff .
Last year I built the wife a kitchen table from 115 year old hand chopped pine 10x10 pine beams.
that I cut down to 4x8 planks.
Left hand chopped on sides . And spot on each end.
I pulled from under old house that was falling down.
I pegged everything together. Not one nail
Lots of work but wife loved it.
Wow, that is some nice work! I am getting into woodworking now, but mostly power carving and lathe work. I can appreciate all types of fine craftsmanship though.
