for a 65 or near that. I was rebuilding my C5AF-E dizzy for a 390 and I lost the round clip that holds the reluctor on to the main shaft. I have looked for one everywhere and no one can help me. Does anyone here have a clip they are willing to sell?
Also trying to find the old fiber type keepers for the top of the centrifigul weights or anything that will work to keep the weight in place.
If you know anyone that rebuilds Ford dizzys, a name would also suffice where I might get these parts.
Thanks, Bud
The Reluctor retention clip is B71 12177-A Lots available do a quick internet search.
The weight retainers are another matter they were never sold separately.I have seen people use and E clip and washer.
Someone has to make the weight retainers as the rebuilders replace them . But i have never been able to find a source for them. A starlock/quicklock washer would probably work better to be honest though.
Thanks Matthewq4b,
I have another distributor that is from a 429-460 but the reluctor pins that hold the weights are larger in diameter than the pins that hold the weights on mine. Went to the hardware store and found some starlock washers but their assortments are either a little too big or a little too small.... Why me Lord?
Someone on another Forum said I don,t need retainers to hold the weights on, but I can't see how the weights could stay on slinging around in there at 5000 rpm.
Anyway thanks for the response and I'll keep looking for an old dizzy from a salvage yard. Bud

Ya you need the retainers as the weights can move up the pin and slip over the reluctor and will then do nothing.. He may be thinking about the GM style HEI dist's where the reluctor springs keep the weights from walking up the pins and retainers are not needed.. It really is a shame the Ford style dist got more attention as it is a superior design to the GM style.
