I’ve looked into them for my own truck. There’s really nothing substantial to bolt them to without fabricating some sort of structure under the bed floor to transfer the load to the frame.
Most of the trucks I see running them are older, and the beds are tweaked to some extent, so I passed on installing one, even on my old plow truck.
the lift is only part of the project. The substructure is the other.
How much weight are you looking to lift? Reason I ask is when we go hunting, we have a "game lift" that goes into the receiver hitch. We use it to lift and hang deer, elk, etc. Also handy for lifting the generator into the bed. However I believe it is only rated for 300 pounds. If you are lifting less than that, this might be an easier solution for you. And you can remove and store it when not in use. Found it at Cabelas. If you need more lifting capacity, then this might not help you.
Did look into ones that go in the receiver hitch but like the way the other ones tuck in the corner when not used. Was hoping someone had good luck with one. Doesn't sound like it. Thanks for input. Haven't seen one that folds into bumper. Have a brand I can search?
