Cold air intake

I’ll be changing the stock air intake to help my truck breathe better.

F150 3.5 EB

Which brand/type is most reccomended?

Go easy on me now, I’m F150 illiterate

The stock intake is basically a CAI. I wouldn't waste my time or money personally. Plus a whole bunch of people don't like the oiled filter element.

Thanks! I always had K&N filters on my Harley and a couple of other vehicles but, if it’s not going to help performance at all, I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

Yep, I have K&N on both bikes. A CAI alone on your truck probably won't make any difference. Now a CAI and exhaust may. A CAI, exhaust and a tune will definitely bring that 3.5EB alive.

Well, I’m looking at all the exhaust, CAI, and tune possibilities.

I have no idea which ones to choose so, I’m looking for recommendations.

I plan to tow a 7k camper if that makes a difference

CAI, exhaust won't make a difference other than sound and looks. A tune will get you more performance.
If I was to get a CAI for sound and looks, S&B would be the one for me. Dry filter, and a lid to prevent sucking in hot air from under the hood.
Exhaust, Borla, pick your poison on which system you want. Again, looks/sound only. Zero drone with Borla, but $$$.
Tune, I run a MPT 93PRX for a daily tune, you won't believe the difference from stock, it's a whole different truck. If you keep it out of boost, and drive wisely, you'll still get mileage in the 20's. Get on it, and I know you'll be smiling!

The stock one is a CAI, also worth noting there is over 3000 sq inches of filter area on the stock filter. None of the aftermarket comes close. The pressure drop across the media is almost non existent. The aftermarket uses shorter wider spaces cotton pleats with a terrible micron rating.

Just keep in mind that the aftermarket intakes will be louder, and might be obnoxiously loud when pulling a grade with the Trailer behind you.

I see lots of good info in here. From what I've heard, between CAI, exhaust, and a tune....the only one that definitely increases performance is getting a tune.

go with a SCT tuner, and custom tuned from unleashed. You will gain MAJOR power.

CAI

Airaids MXP CAI has an enclosed box as well. However, I run mine without the cover and my tune includes it. Definite difference in hp(not just from tune)
