Cold air intake

What would be my best option if im looking to put a cold air intake on my truck in terms of horse power increase? Which cold air intake has the best horsepower gains?

The stock air intake is good for up to 500rwhp. Some agree and some disagree. I had a Banks Ram Air on my truck and saw no real gains from it. It has less than 500 miles on it. If you are interested let me know I am looking to get rid of it. My advice would be to keep it stock, but if you have to have one I'll make you a real good deal on it.

Keep it stock or if you want to try something different just do the ZOODAD mod and modify the front snorkle as shown below.

As Sarge261 said there are several threads on here stating that the stock intake is good to 500 HP. The only reason I went with an S and B is for the reusable filter and if I ever need a replacment filter it is about half the price of an $80 stock Ford filter. I just figured after 4 air filter changes it would be paid for. Kinda made sense at the time.

I absolutely have to disagree with your mod Heavy. Why would you want to open the filter housing to underhood hot air? The Zoodad?? Absolutely, but take it outside the engine compartment where you can get cooler air.

4 stock filter changes should be good for about 250K miles plus, unless you're driving in some REALLY nasty conditions and that is when you REALLY need the stock filter.

LOL, I live on a half mile long dirt road in the middle of nowhere in bug invested swampy central Louisiana, where we don't really have dirt, but sand that gets sucked in to every crack and crevice on my truck.
Heck the town I live in is so backwoods the name of it is HICKS!!! But thats why I like it.
Twice a year we are taken over by "LOVE BUGS" little orange and black flies that connect at the sex organs and fly around attatched to eachother. And they to get sucked and splatted into everything.
And then there is the pollen the 1/4 inch thick layer of yellow crap that collects everywhere and won't scrub off for months.

Yes, friend I am in the extreme. LOL. Not ranting at you just thinking about how much I hate this place. The Army has felt it necessary to leave me at Fort Polk for the last 7 years though and over the 25,000 miles the Ford garage recomended changing the filter twice stating that it was caked with Louisiana's finest probably because of my Zoodad Mod. So I finally went with the S and B about 3000 miles ago and now I can pull the filter during maintainence and brush it off. Its just conveniant for me.

My mom is from Coushatta which is NW. I spent almost every summer of my life there in the red sand, ticks, and chiggers. I went to school in Baton Rouge and spent more than one hot afternoon south of Lake Charles in the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge with her college roommate, whose hubby was a federal game warden, crab fishing with a chunk of gator or nutria. I hear ya about Louisiana, but it's my second home to Arkansas. I'm about half Cajun so I love it.

I hear ya about the maintenance, but the factory filter will hold about 3 lbs of sand before it plugs, no matter what the looks. At least you went with a quality filter.
