93 ranger 4x4 fuel guage quit....
The fuel guage on my '93 ranger 4x4 quit working.... It's a 3.0 litre V6. I didn't drive it for about 8 days and I started it up and I noticed it was low on fuel. I put $6 in (which didn't buy much) but the guage didn't move. I beat the heck out of the dash.... and shook the crap out of the truck.... I'm wondering if it is a fuse. I have a chiltens but at this time it is in storage in another state....
If anyone has a suggestion I would really apreciate it.
Thanks...

Welcome to FTE!!!
The most common cause is the sender in the tank, measure the resistance of the sender with a full & empty tank. You can also test the gauge by pulling the connection and grounding, this will give you full and empty. Pull the bed to replace.

Yeh, my 94's gas guage doesnt work either. A guy at a local tire shop told me that it is common on 94 model fords. The cause is a faulty ground on the sending unit, and there is basicly nothing you can do, short of spending way to much money just to see how much gas you have. I just go by how many miles i put on it. I can go a max of 300 miles on a tank.
