Hi all, i have just took my toolbox out of the the side of my 65 f250 ranger camper special, the last guy had put silicon sealer around the edge does anyone have the correct seal or a photo of correct seal type section so i can try to find one here in new Zealand, many thanks
Gary
Do you mean the weatherstrip between the door and the storage box or the welt between the storage box and the boxside sheetmetal? The welt you can find almost anywhere, but the weatherstrip you need is in Chad's stash of nos treasure. I searched everywhere without success and concluded that that specific profile is unique to that application, and not reproduced.

storage box to sheet metal, seal around door is ok but i do need a lock mine seems to have broken, email me yargnitram@icloud.com
Gary, is the actual lock that you put the key into broken or is it something else in the latch mechanism? Sometimes the spring breaks inside so the latch won't hold good or at all. I've recreated the internal spring but shipping to down under is way more than a spring costs to make. I was looking the other day and found some locks that looked short enough to work but I forget now where I had seen them.

Hey guys the latch mechanism broke yesterday on my 1965 F250 long bed's curbside tool box. I'd like to just replace the entire latch mechanism as the lock cylinder was already gone anyway. I have been scouring the 'net but cannot find anyone who sells the latch. Anyone have a decent used one or know where I can buy a replacement?
Search for "Flush toolbox lock". Something like this isn't too far off appearance-wise. Not sure if the size is correct or not, but the seller might be able to help with dimensions.
Thanks TA455HO I reached out to the seller to ask about the dimensions. I see some people call these "flush locks" and others "paddle locks". I have had a few trucks with this tool box in the past, didn't realize they are so hard to come by!
Taking into consideration measuring a piece of 55-year-old weathered rubber seal it appears a 1/4" drill is slightly larger fit in the bulb, and the total width measures 3/4" which includes the bulb and tail? I am not clear regarding the hardness rating, a slightly larger bulb may be okay if the material has some give??
I would look into the same type of flange seal measuring 3/4"x1/4"x1/4" and type of material of your choice? They also make a silicone foam variety but I do not think I would go that route; perhaps other members will chime in w/ their opinion? I posted a couple of examples for info purposes only.
The only other option I can offer is to mail a piece? The topic has come up before I like the link, seems much more info and choices.
It's been a while since I took my box apart, maybe I even have a small piece of the original gasket. Also it's not that expensive, maybe I'll just order a 10' piece of 1/4" and 3/8".
