1965 long bed side tool box

While we're on this topic, I recently removed the side box from my long box and discovered the hole in the bed sheet metal looked like it had been cut in by a cave man using a reciprocating saw. I wonder if any of these were dealer installed or did they actually do such nasty looking work on the assembly line?
