How to wire fog lights like the facory did

Hey guys,

Working on my 96 f350 but I am wiring up some Hella fog lights and want them to work like the OEM Lightning ones.

You know on with the running lights and low beams, off with the high beams.
And off when the truck is off.

I just cant wrap my head around how to wire them so they work that way

Yes, I have a relay fuse and switch

(I already used the factory spot for the fog lamp relay to power my aux fuel pump for the supercharger, so I will have to use aux relay)

HELP

The above wiring diagram will work. Instead of hooking the wire in the diagram that goes to the 3 amp fuse that says "+12vdc" to the ignition, you would hook this wire to the lowbeam wire. This will be a red/black wire leaving the bottom of the steering column that comes from the dimmer switch on the turnsignal switch. You would not hook it to the keyswitch, you could but it would add unnecessary complication to the circuit and I am wondering what the purpose would be, since you never leave your headlights on when leaving the truck correct?

Franklin, you are not quite correct. Diesel_Brad wishes that they only be available when the LOW BEAMS are on.

30: fused 12v+ (15A should be plenty)
87: output to fog lights
85: tap into headlight low beam wire at headlight switch (supplies 12v+ when low beams are ON)
86: fog light switch (supplies ground when ON)

85 and 86 can be swapped, I just like to have 85 be the positive side of the coil on all my projects for consistency.

Not sure why that diagram would not work? I did describe in my post to hook the power to the low beams wire and not the ignition on wire.

I ended up using my trigger wire from the running lights unit I figure out a way to have the high beams shut them off
