Locking hubs stuck, help!

Hey all, first post here. I just bought a 2004 excursion 4x4 with the v10, and I can't get the front hubs to move at all by hand. What is the best way to loosen them up so I can use then until i can buy new hubs?
Thanks

I put a set of channel locks on mine to turn and that only lasted about 2 uses and promptly cracked all the plastic. OEM is pricey, as are replacements from Warn or Superwinch (can't remember all the options). If you can take them apart to service them, it's recommended and detailed instructions can be found in the sticky section above. I opted for a new replacement from Amazon for about $89 each. Work just as good as a factory unit so that I can maintain SOTF or fully manual.

You mean you can’t turn them between manual and auto? if so, since you’re going to replace them, soak them liberally with PB Blaster for a day then use pliers to try to turn them.

The proper methed would be to pull them out, clean them up, then grease them.

I doubt you are going to fix them by just spraying they, maybe if you took them off and submerged them in pb blaster but at that point you might as well take them apart and clean them correctly.

plenty of video online if you need step by step instruction

They all stick.... eventually. They need to be 'serviced" occasionally. Once off, cleaned and loosened up, I soaked mine in Mobil 680 https://www.mobil.com/en/industrial/...l-shc-gear-680

13 years and 100,000 miles and mine still turn smooth and easy. I spray them in the crevice line with wd 40 once a year, exercise them well after lube, and then turn them back and forth once a month. I hope it lasts.

Please see the tech folder. You'll find instructions there. Just scroll down to the Axles, Hubs, Ball Joints section and you'll see a couple threads addressing frozen hubs.
