I have a Red 1995 F350 Powerstroke, 4dr, 4X4.
I have not noticed this before, but the needle on my water temp gauge has been going up to the top just a little before the last white line, but not into the red.
I have not noticed it going that high until two days ago.
I made sure it was full of coolant and did not find any leaks anywhere and no coolant on the ground or anything.
The water did however get hot and filled my reservoir.
But it also sucked it back into the radiator when I shut it off.
Is it the thermostat or water pump?
Were you towing anything heavy?
Also if you havent change your coolant this would be a perfect opportunity to do so, dont forget to add SCA additive or do the Fleetcharge coolant which already comes with it, test your thermostat and check the condition of you water pump fins, and make sure the fan clutch is working properly, also make sure your condensor and radiator are free of debris, like mud, bugs, grass etc....
Thanks everyone for the ideas and input.
A service truck for the loggers saw me sitting with my hood up and stopped.
He looked at the truck and said it was the thermostat.
He cut out the center of the thermostat and put it back and told me to go straight to town and put a new one in.
I did so and now all is working good.
