Heatshield & IPR

Would leaving the heatshield off the back of the motor around the up-pipes off cause the IPR to go bad and start sticking open when it gets hot enough? I've got the newer heatshield on mine that came with the BD Power Up Pipes, and when the shop did my head gaskets and studs, they left it off. After about 500 miles, it suddenly wouldn't start hot one day, and dropped a P2623 code. Could this have caused it, or did it just suddenly go bad on me?

That's a circuit code. Check to make sure it's plugged in correctly or if it might have broken a wire.

They should have installed it, BD puts that update shield in the kit for a reason.
It's going to be a real bear to get it on after the fact
