New to me truck. Came with a beans fuel pump. It's supposed to be the ****! My pump is loud. When I turn the ignition on I can instantly hear it start buzzing. Can't hear it on the highway but probably only because my tires are so loud. But can hear it driving around town and at stop lights. Are they really supposed to be that loud? Are there some parts I can replace or do you think it's going bad? What's your guyses experiences?
The Walbro I had was pretty loud. I switched to a stock SD pump and it is much quieter. I have no idea what brand it is. I have slept a lot since then. If you can get a pick of the pump we might be able to tell which one it is. You can always call Beans and ask them about it
I have a video recorded on my phone but of course it's the wrong format. I'll have to transfer it to my computer and then upload it to the form. You guys will be able to hear the sound or The Buzz. Also got some pictures.
Thats what usually comes with the beans kit I believe.
Makes sense, part of why it runs $1000 plus the Aeromotive reg. I guess if you want a one time purchase only kit, you should be set. Not that it is bad, I have no experience with it. It just includes things I have no use for and probably never would.
So that's the sound. It is pretty loud. can be heard in the cab, over the engine noise slightly. Or at least distinguishable. the sound can be drowned out while driving and with the radio, but if I listen for is it's definitely there.
I'm just trying to be specific because It's my first diesel and aftermarket kit and i'm just not sure what's normal.

My gsl393 supports my 250/200s just great. No loss of pressure even when flogging Molly.
Does the pump have the vibration damper (rubber type of material) between pump and mounting bracket? Can you take a picture? Both pumps I can barely hear in a quiet garage, If a car is going by the house forget it.
1. The 99 SD factory installed.
2. The 97 which was a kit from Bar None diesel.
I'll take a look and get you that picture today. I actually don't remember seeing any sort of rubber around the strap for the pump or between the mounting hardware and the frame. Take a look and post a pic
