Hellwig Sway Bar Owners

I am finishing my Hellwig install - my 03 7.3 never had a sway bar but the install was relatively straight forward until the end. The instructions say to make sure the sway bar is level with the ground when the truck is sitting on its suspension (not jacked up). I took out a small magnetic level and began to set the end links, but even at their shortest, the end links are too long to allow the sway bar to be absolutely level with the ground. Is this normal?

If your body mounts are aging like mine, don’t be surprised to hear more noise from them and the occasional pop over uneven surfaces.

I'd say it's normal IF you picked the right bar for the amount of lift you have. I needed the Hellwig 7878 for the 4x4 Ex based on the options on the actual Hellwig site.

I don't have any lift (stock height) so I ordered the 7643, which I think is the correct part # for no lift.

Deth - I had the same experience with mine and contacted Hellwig. They asked for photos and after reviewing them, sent me a shorter pair of end links. Awesome customer service.

Better than I had. Somehow my Ex must be different than most, as my U-bolts for the lower shock mounts were a smaller diameter than the U-bolts they supplied. They asked me to send pics, I did, and they told me to drill out the lower mounts to accept their larger U-bolts...

Regarding the original question, that sounds normal with stock height springs. I put C codes on mine, which raised it about a couple inches, and I have the links adjusted almost all the way in to make it parallel.

I thought I was missing a lock nut from my Hellwig kit, and they sent me a complete set of plates, bolts, and nuts. They called me right back actually. I started with an email to customerservice@hellwigproducts.com

PM me and I'll give you Kevin's number at Hellwig. He was good to deal with

BTW: if you have a smart phone and your vehicle is on level ground,, you can use the 'Clinometer' App to find your level on the bar.
