If you own........

If you have a string trimmer with attachments made by MTD (the list is very long) and if the power head fails, your attachments will still fit other currently built MTD products.

For instance, in my case I have a Ryobi Trimmer plus that dates back 18 years. I have all the attachments still. The power head failed and I don't want to put more money and time into it. So, the Troy Bilt power head also built buy MTD is also a Trimmer Plus and has maintained the brand name over the years.

However, some years ago, Ryobi went over to McCullock and Homelite. These brands use the "extend it" name and these attachments may not fit the trimmer plus machines from MTD.

Additionally, if you're looking for a commercial grade unit with attachments, Stihl is the way to go. As I understand it, other brands of attachments will fit into the Stihl shaft but Stihl attachments won't fit any other.

Hopefully this helps someone. If I've gotten anything wrong here or left out something important, please chime in.
