Rough day for the truck and I. Out of the blue I had some starting issues which was narrowed down to the distributor after a while of tinkering. Got her fired up again and now I have this metal cluncking sound. Sounds like it is at the front of the trans and the sound gets louder as gas is given. What is it? Fluid is good, shifts fine, and power is normal. The trans is not that old based off receipts from the previous owner Hasn’t happened until today. C6 auto 400 and single cab 150
You bet.
Just going by what you described, it could be loose bolts where the torque converter bolts to the flex plate or the bell housing separator plate is bent and the bolt is hitting. Sometimes the bolts can even hit the inspection plate I mentioned. You can turn the engine with either a socket on the crank or bump the engine to turn the bolts down to where you can see them. Anyway, that’s a decent place to start with the symptoms you’re describing. Good luck with it.
btw, if you’re going to bump it with the starter, remove the coil wire. You don’t want it starting on you.
oh and as always, safety first! Make sure you do what you have to do so the truck won’t move when you’re under it.
