I have a base model 2015 f150 super cab, 2wd EcoBoost V6, no bells or whistles. I want to swap my stock 17" rims for 18" rims from a 2015 f150. I need to know what are the largest ties I can use with the 18" rims without adjusting my speedometer, or what measures I need to take to adjust said speedometer if the situation calls for it. I use my truck for work so I haul materials but I usually don't exceed 500 lbs. I appreciate all experienced advice I can get.
The stock sizes are all just about the same diameter. Go to Tire Rack and input a '17 or '18 and they will show you all three sizes.
I see multiple sets of 18s and 20s with HT and MS tires for sale nearly new for $800 to $1000 on Craigslist. If you buy that way you will probably have to add your TPMS back as most I've seen have already pulled the TPMS.
Any bigger tire will affect the speedo. That requires a bit of electronic fiddling which is covered in other threads here. Someone posted that dealers will not reset speedos for non stock sizes. Don't know if that's true or not.
