To physically remove EGR or not?

I am seriously considering a delete after my bumper to bumper warranty is gone. My local diesel mechanic who was recommended by several people said that most just disconnect the egr and don't physically remove it. Is this true?

I have no stats but I do not believe that to be true. Just delete it, it cleans up the engine substantially and one less thing to worry about.

Most kits I’ve seen call for removal of the egr accompanied by the addition of block-off plates. All brands, all models - but, I have no idea if it can be left on/installed and just “turned off.” I know a few that have gone the delete route and they all have 400+ pounds of parts stored in the attic or shop.

Call a company that sells these kits, they will have the best advice. I have seen both for the 6.7
