Flathead 6 - fuel pump leak?

Fit perfectly in the fuel pump and carb fittings and seal up nice and tight. Ran a 5/16" fuel injection hose between pump and carb, and then cut the flare off of the replacement steel line to slide the same type of hose over that into this same fitting on the fuel pump inlet. Had to clamp the snot out of that to stop the leaking, but good to go now.
Now chasing what I think is a vacuum leak. Idles fine, warms up fine, but blip the throttle and it nearly dies. I think the metal fittings coming off of the carb have finally given up when it was switched to the new carb (after 69 years of being on the truck). I'll test the vacuum mechanism on the dizzy and make sure my wiper vacuum isn't leaking. I just redid the dizzy, too (points, internal wires, condensor, cap & rotor)...should have changed out the vacuum mechanism when I was in there. Oh well...
